Now that Jolie is 5 months old we have had some time to actually use some baby products and see what we like the best! I rounded up some of our favorites to share with you!
Water Wipes: these are the wipes we use. I like them because they don’t have a scent and one wipe goes a long way!
Baby Aquaphor: we use this whenever we notice a little redness and it works like magic!
Diaper Pail: we got this because we wanted to make sure dogs couldn’t get any dirty diapers and to try and lock in odor! plus you don’t need any special bags!
Hatch Sound Machine: we love that we can control this from an app on our phone and customize the color and brightness & sound and volume. We also got this portable sound machine and this is the sound she prefers to sleep with!
Snuggleme Lounger: loved this lounger when she was a newborn. it would almost hug her and made her feel like she was being held, she took alot of naps in this! I also got the cover for easier cleanups (spit up or poop.. bound to happen)!
Bouncer: this is one of our favorites that we still use now! definitely a must have.
Bassinet: what I had next to my side of the bed when she still slept in our room. I loved that the side came down to pick her up and lay her down, the swivel and how easily it turned.
Crib Mattress: this is the mattress we decided to go with to go in her crib because it is 100% breathable and is completely washable. the cover can go in the washing machine and the inner core can be rinsed in the shower! I just bought some organic cotton and muslin sheets to go over it.
Swaddle: the swaddle we used until we transitioned to a sleep sack (started introducing around 8 weeks). we tried a few different kinds before finding this one to be her favorite.
Baby Monitor: we are pleased with our monitor, we like that the camera is separate from our phone (it seemed like alot of monitors were accessible on apps on your phone). our only complaints are the short battery life and the temp reading seems inaccurate.
Nail Trimmer: I was so scared to use actual nail clippers on really tiny little fingers and cutting them! this has been a life saver and is so easy to use. the little pad files her nails but if it touches her skin it isn’t painful.
Booger Picker: exactly what it sounds like!
Flower Bath: we have a small bath we now use in the bigger bathtub (this one!) but she didn’t like it when she was smaller. she loved being in this flower bath in the sink until she outgrew it!
Other basic essentials:
Baby Carrier (we also like our lalabu kerrier)
Baby Swing (or this one)
Alot of footie pajamas and diapers of course!
Breastfeeding essentials:
Nipple Cream: this is the best one, trust me you’ll need some for the first couple weeks!
BF Pillow: the nursing pillow I used for the first few months
Pumping Bra: you don’t want to be holding your pump bottles for that long
Manual Breast Pump: used this so much for those middle of the night wake ups for a little relief! also great if baby decides to only feed on one side
Haakaa: this is a MUST HAVE (get 2)
Battery Powered Clock: this was wonderful to have when I was still timing feeds and didn’t have a hand to check my phone for the time
Vitamin D Drops: we were first prescribed vitamin d from the pediatricians office but it was so much liquid to have to give, was pretty pricey and probably tasted awful. we got the okay from our pediatrician to give these drops and they’re so much better! one single drop, better ingredients, cheaper and lasts longer.
Baby dish soap, drying rack, bottles, bottle warmer, baby dish brush
I hope this post was helpful! I know it can feel overwhelming when starting to shop and look at things you will need for a new baby. Just know, you definitely don’t need everything I shared or all the “top products” you see recommended everywhere. The most important thing your baby needs from you is love! If you have any questions feel free to reach out! 🙂
