crust:
preheat oven to 350F
cream together 1 cup softened butter + 1/2 cup granulated sugar + 1 tsp vanilla
add in 2 cups all purpose flour (spooned & leveled) and stir until combined
press 2/3 of the dough evenly in a lined 9×9 baking dish
bake for 10 min
make filling:
melt 2 tbsp butter and mix in 3/4 cup brown sugar + 2 tsp cinnamon + 2 tbsp all purpose flour + 2 tbsp maple syrup
spread filling evenly over crust, crumble remaining shortbread on top and bake for another 30 min
