Nashville Travel Guide

Posted on September 1, 2019October 2, 2019 by Melika

NASHVILLE! One of my favorite cities to visit for fun weekend getaways, girls weekends or just for a fun time! Nashville is a vibrant and energy filled city, from the music on Broadway, to the good good goooood southern food and hospitality, to the history of country music. Whatever you are interested in and love to do you will definitely find in Music City!

Here’s my round up of need to go places; restaurants, things to do, where to stay & how to get around!

Where to stay

We love air bnbs when traveling. They are normally cheaper than finding a hotel room, more spacious, equipped with a kitchen, living room and other amenities that hotels don’t have.

Here are a couple that were our favorites:

Air Bnb – Guesthouse

Air Bnb – Casa Kline

Click here for $55 towards your first air bnb booking!

Where you stay in the city is up to you; both of the places listed above were a short 10-20 minute drive to anywhere we wanted to go in the city. Best way to get around the city is to uber/lyft or drive around yourself.

Where to eat

There’s almost too many yummy places to list but here’s some that I would go back to again and again they were just THAT GOOD. I added pictures I could find and that I remembered to take!

Adele’s: farm to fork, comfort food

Bartaco: coastal beachy vacation vibes, street tacos, specialty cocktails (one of the best margaritas I’ve ever had)

Biscuit Love: if you know you know

Dozen Bakery: pastry treats, local coffee, fresh bread (one of my favorite sourdough loaves), weekend brunch

CREMA: flavorful smooth coffee, variety of espresso drinks and teas

Five Daughter’s Bakery: 100 layer donuts, paleo and vegan options, seasonal flavors

Frothy Monkey: brunch, drinks, coffeeshop vibes

The Goo Goo Shop and Dessert Bar: you NEED to try a goo goo cluster; marshmallow nougat + roasted peanuts + caramel + chocolate

Hattie B’s: Nashville hot chicken, a MUST. Next level fried chicken!

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream: smooth, unique flavors, dairy free options

Milk & Honey: the most delicious brunch! I love the avocado toast and roasted mushroom omelet

Pharmacy Burger: “best burger in town”, cozy atmosphere, soda shop

Pinewood Social

Red Bicycle: coffee shop with small eats, savory and sweet crepes, espresso drinks and coffee

Restoration Hardware Cafe: fun menu, good food and surrounded by fab decor

Shake Shack: savory burgers, crispy cheese fries, custards, dog treats

What to do

Amelia’s Flower Truck: parked all over Nashville; check their website for current locations

Country City Music Hall of Fame

Grand Ole Opry/Opryland

Horseback Riding: we went to Jeru stables and had someone lead us around a trail, it was so relaxing and fun

MURALS: Nashville has a million and one murals that you need to visit and have fun photoshoots with! The street art is stunning and I have my favorites I love to revisit.

This is the guide I use every time I’m down to check out any cool murals I want to check out!

Parthenon in Centennial park: right beside Vanderbilt, great park to walk/run/bike

Radnor Lake State Park: different hiking trails of varying difficulty, beautiful scenery

Shelby Bottoms Park

Visit Broadway: there are so many bars with fun music, good drinks and energetic atmospheres; FGL house, the stage, honky tonk, tootsies, tin roof

Phew, Nashville has a lot to do and yummy places to eat! There are so many more restaurants, coffeeshops and things to do on our list for future trips! I know I’m missing a ton but these are some of my favorites from all my visits to this city that I wanted to share with you all. I hope you have as much fun as I do!

Let me know what your favorites are and if you go/do anything that isn’t listed here!

to be completely transparent, it’s absolutely impossible to be a full time mom and trying to create any kind of content. to be fully present with your kids and not on my phone in front of them means giving up a lot of other things that take up your time.. which is why you may (or may not) have noticed how much less I’ve been posting.

my priorities have shifted, they’re childhood is sacred and I’ll bake when I can. this page and this community still means the world to me and I still love connecting with all of you!

anyway here’s the recipe for the BEST cookies—
heat 6 tbsp salted butter over medium-high heat
stir often until it starts foaming and bubbling (about 5 min) should turn a golden brown color!
in a bowl, mix together 3/4 cup brown sugar + 1/4 cup organic cane sugar
add in browned butter + 4 tbsp softened butter + 2 tsp vanilla and cream together
whisk in 1 egg + 1 egg yolk
add in 1 1/2 cup all purpose flour + 1/2 tsp baking soda
fold in cut up dark chocolate bar + colorful chocolate candies
scoop on a lined baking sheet and bake at 375F for 10 min
